A four-day trek and ascent of the Rwenzori Mountains in Uganda is the best program we can provide for seasoned mountaineers. The snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains run along the western rift valley, separating the Democratic Republic of the Congo from Uganda. These mountains are often referred to as the “mountains of the moon,” reach an elevation of 5,109 meters. On this safari, you get the opportunity to go up the majestic Rwenzori mountain, where you have an excellent chance of seeing a variety of flora and fauna as well as the spectacular Nyamwamba valley at its peak. Food, housing, ropes, and a harness are all part of the package. Boots, sleeping bags, caps, gloves, and raincoats are all available for hire. Even though there are beds and stretchers available, it is still recommended to bring a sleeping bag and warm clothes. The Rwenzori Mountains, home to rare plants and animals including heather trees and enormous lobelias, have earned a place on the UNESCO World Heritage List. No matter how difficult the climb to the peak may be, you can rest certain that your knowledgeable guides will be there every step of the way to keep you safe.

As part of your 4-day safari in Uganda, you will get the opportunity to ascend the Rwenzori Mountains. Relax at Margherita Peak, the highest peak in Uganda. Contact us for the finest Rwenzori mountain climbing excursions in Uganda. The Rwenzori Short Hike consists of a hike lasting four days and three nights. These are inclusive of two additional days of traveling to and from Kampala and Kasese. It is an easy trial to fulfill any demand, especially families with children, so that everybody might appreciate the grandeur of Rwenzori Mountain Climbing with lower difficulties.
Get up early, have breakfast, and then travel to the hikers' hostel at Kyanjiki, 12 kilometers from Kasese. If you can travel as late as 10 a.m., the trekking experience starts at 8:00 a.m. You will meet your guides there before undertaking the 2.2-kilometer climb to the UWA ranger station, which rises to a height of 1,727 meters. The park rangers will give you a briefing on the day’s activities and restrictions here. The walk today will be 8.6 kilometers long and should take 5 to 6 hours to finish. It will begin at a height of 1667 meters and soar to 3171 meters. The first two uphill kilometers lead you into a montane forest, where you may observe towering trees covered in dense undergrowth, a vast range of unique bird species, and monkeys. You will continue to follow a steep slope up to a major ridge with few rocks and good footing, unless it is raining excessively. Untouched woodlands with a variety of trees and flora may be found there. At the site of our dinner, groups of 15 to 20 black and white colobus monkeys may be plainly seen swinging among the trees. We will climb another half-kilometer after lunch to a tiny cave that was a poacher's hideaway. Numerous bird species and bug species make the thick bamboo home. As we increasingly get near the 3000-meter line, the bamboo, which is rather magnificent, gives way to giant heather trees wrapped in bearded moss. You will pause at Samalira camp after your day of climbing to enjoy the panoramic views of the slopes leading to Lake George and Queen Elizabeth National Park, as well as a clear view of Kasese town on the left.
We’ll begin our descent through the bamboo forest after breakfast. The terrain is significantly more moist than the path on the southern windward side of the mountain, which gets a lot of rain and goes to Samalira camp. At roughly 2600 meters, when we pass through the sine rock shelter, the bamboo gives way to afro-montane woods.
A guy called Sine lived in this rock shelter for more than 30 years while hunting animals in the highlands. From there, we’ll descend to the foot of the ridge, where we may cross a big, swift-moving creek and reach the Musenga rock shelter. We eat our lunch here and take a small break before walking the remaining 6 kilometers to the ranger station through the deep montane forest. After a short debriefing, we will say farewell and climb the remaining 1.2 kilometers to our waiting cars and the trekkers’ lodge. Dinner and a night’s relaxation. Tomorrow, we shall start our trek back home.Get up, have breakfast, and proceed to Kampala, where you will be dropped off at your hotel or the Entebbe Airport, where you will catch your journey home. This will mark the conclusion of your four days of Rwenzori Mountain trekking.
