Mombasa

Mombasa is the biggest city on the Kenyan coast and blends metropolitan bustle with beach calm. The coastline region boasts approximately 500 kilometers of calm white beaches, golden sand dunes, warm aqua water, and lovely, hidden islands. Mombasa provides guests with an opportunity to enjoy its historic nautical traditions, coral reefs, water sports, seafood, architectural marvels, great hotels, and palm tree/white sand beaches. There is so much to see and experience that people go many times just to find something they didn’t know existed. With its busy marketplaces, historical landmarks, and diversified cultural history, Mombasa also provides a unique combination of traditional and contemporary attractions. Visitors may explore the lively Old Town with its tiny lanes and traditional Swahili architecture or visit the magnificent Fort Jesus, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Additionally, the city's dynamic nightlife scene and great local food make it a must-visit location for those seeking an exceptional experience.

The aboriginal inhabitants of the island are the Mijikenda and the Swahili. The Mijikenda are black, whereas the Swahili are brown, a consequence of intermarriages between the early immigrants (Portuguese, Arabs, Omanis, Indians, and Chinese) on the island and the locals. The intermarriages left behind a unique combination of culture and a legacy that also featured distinctive architecture (temples, mosques), towns, and cuisines. Because of her natural beauty, cultural variety, and long history as a center of commerce, Mombasa has evolved into one of East Africa’s commercial centers, with an international airport and one of the busiest ports in Africa. Mombasa connects numerous landlocked nations in East Africa to the Indian Ocean, including mainland Kenya, Burundi, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
