Rwanda

Rwanda, sometimes known as the "country of a thousand hills," has several tourism attractions. Rwanda, located in the heart of Africa, is a landlocked nation that covers 26,338 square kilometers. Rwanda is also known as the Switzerland of Africa because of its various hills and valleys, which make the geography ideal for observing and resting.

Rwanda borders Tanzania to the east, Uganda to the north, Burundi to the south, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west. If you are considering a vacation to Rwanda in the near future, here are some facts about the country as a tourist destination.

Rwanda's four national parks provide distinct experiences for travelers. Akagera National Park is Rwanda's sole savanna park, home to several animal and bird species. The park is home to the Big Five (elephants, rhinos, leopards, lions, and buffalo) who wander the park's marshes, woods, and savannah, which are all situated against a natural river border with Tanzania and studded with a dozen lakes.

Rwanda's Volcanoes National Park is located in northeastern Rwanda and has 160 square kilometers of rainforest. It is named after a series of eight dormant volcanoes, five of which are in Rwanda: Karisimbi, Bisoke, Muhabura, Gahinga, and Sabyinyo. Volcanoes National Park is home to endangered gorillas, who share 95% of their DNA with humans. One of the most memorable aspects of Rwanda as a tourist destination is the ability to view gorillas in their natural environment; some even call it life-changing.

Nyungwe National Park, located on the country's southern border with Burundi, is one of Africa's oldest rainforests. The park supplies the world's two biggest rivers, the Congo and the Nile. Nyungwe National Park has around 1,068 documented plant species, 322 bird species, 75 identified animal species, and 13 distinct primate species. Tourists come to the park mostly to see chimpanzees, waterfalls, and the Canopy Walk, a 90-meter suspension bridge over the jungle.

The fourth national park is Gishwati Mukura National Park, consisting of two distinct forests: Gishwati and Mukura. Gishwati is home to two chimpanzees and golden monkeys. Around 400 bird species have been identified in the Mukura and Gishwati woods. Apart from national parks, Rwanda's tourism attractions include museums and art galleries.
