Virunga Volcanoes Rwanda

Volcanoes National Park is a Rwanda Gorilla Safari Tour place where you may go on a gorilla safari in Rwanda and see mountain gorillas and golden monkeys. “Volcanoes National Park is in the heart of Central Africa, so high up that you shiver more than you sweat,” writes Dian Fossey, a renowned primatologist. “are great, old volcanoes towering up almost 15,000 feet and nearly covered with rich, green rainforest—the Virungas.” .

Volcanoes National Park, located in the far northwest of Rwanda, preserves the steep slopes of this majestic mountain range—home to the endangered mountain gorilla—as well as the diverse mosaic of montane habitats that include evergreen and bamboo forest, open grassland, swamps, and heath. The park encompasses the Virunga Conservation Area’s Rwandan side.

Our six-day gorilla safari to Virunga Lodge, Rwanda, and Mount Gahinga Lodge, Uganda, offers the opportunity to experience ancient Batwa culture, hike a volcano, see the rare golden monkeys, and track the majestic mountain gorillas in both Rwanda and Uganda. Immerse yourself in the rich heritage of the Batwa people as you witness their traditional dances and learn about their unique way of life. Additionally, embark on a thrilling adventure to conquer the towering peaks of Mount Gahinga, where breathtaking views await at the summit.

Arriving in Kigali, you will be welcomed by your expert Volcano Safaris guide, who will provide knowledge and assistance throughout your safari. Set off for Mount Gahinga Lodge or a similar option and cross the border into Uganda. Enjoy pre-dinner cocktails on the terrace with stunning views of the Virunga Volcanoes, or warm yourself inside by the cozy fire. Driving time is approximately 4 to 5 hours.

You embark on gorilla tracking after a leisurely breakfast. Trekking over the high, thickly wooded slopes and ultimately seeing the gorillas concealed in the jungle is an awe-inspiring and fortunate experience. The moment you encounter the gorillas concealed in the jungle after a one- to three-hour trek is exciting and fortunate. You'll spend an hour with the gorgeous and gentle mountain gorillas before returning to the resort for a late lunch. Trekking gorillas demands energy and might take up to a whole day, particularly if it is damp and muddy. Overnight stay at Mount Gahinga Lodge or a comparable facility (breakfast, lunch, and supper)

Experience the culture and history of one of Africa's oldest tribes by visiting the Gahinga Batwa Village. You will tour their new village and community center, as well as participate in the Batwa Heritage Trail, to learn about their traditional existence as forest hunters and gatherers, as well as their usage of medicinal herbs. Visit the Batwa Vocational Center and see the Batwa Dance Group perform traditional dances. Return to the resort for lunch before crossing the border into Rwanda. The spectacular Virunga Lodge is set on a hilltop with panoramic views of the volcano series and Lakes Bulera and Ruhondo. From the terrace, you can watch the sunset over the lakes and see an amazing performance by the colorful Intore Dance Company, which highlights Rwandese culture. The travel duration is around 2.5 hours. Breakfast, lunch, and supper are included at Virunga Lodge or a similar option.

Before going gorilla tracking at Parc National des Volcans, get up early and have breakfast. Hike through the lovely bamboo forest on the Virunga Volcanoes' slopes. After a one- to three-hour trek, you will spend one hour with the gorgeous and peaceful mountain gorillas before returning to the lodge in time for a late lunch. Some gorilla families are more elusive than others, and tracking might take a whole day, particularly if the terrain is rainy and muddy. Overnight stay at Virunga Lodge or a comparable facility (breakfast, lunch, and supper).
